Volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club

Are you interested in positively impacting a child’s life?

We offer volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to help change and save lives of children and youth in a safe and engaging environment that inspires and prepares them for great futures!

Whether it’s helping a child with homework, coaching a youth sports team, or using your own special interests and expertise to engage young people in high-yield learning, you can find an opportunity to make a difference.

Volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club

Looking to volunteer as an individual?

We offer volunteer opportunities at our 8 Club locations in Salem, Keizer and Woodburn as well as youth athletic leagues. Below are some general volunteer positions that are ongoing.

Tutor/Homework Helper - Assist youth with their homework after school. Includes grade levels 1-12.

Mentors - Train as an ASPIRE mentor for teens in our T3: Training Teens for Tomorrow high school program and in our Great by 8th (GB8) middle school program. Coach middle and high school youth to foster excellence in both school and life.

Leadership Advisor - Act as a role model for a group of middle school students in community outreach and business skills.

STEAM Workshops - Co-lead STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) workshops for 6th to 8th graders in Great by 8th.

Special Events & Fundraisers - Volunteer at our organization fundraising events. Contact Elena at epiexoto@bgc-salem.org for more information.

Youth Sports Coach - The Boys & Girls Club facilitates youth sports leagues for flag football, tackle football, basketball, and volleyball. Read more.

Health & Dental Services Center - Volunteer dental professionals provide the necessary support to continue this critical work. Read more.

Expert Volunteers - If you have a passion and skills in a particular area, you can help inspire that passion in our members. This could be music, art, science, gardening, money management, nutrition and cooking, computer skills or you tell us!

  • Download and complete our volunteer application
  • Submit application by email to Elizabeth at esegovia@bgc-salem.org or drop off at Support Services Office at 1395 Summer Street NE
  • Background check: We require all volunteers who engage with our Club members to pass a criminal background check. Once we have received your Volunteer Application and your successfully pass the criminal background check, you will be contacted with instructions to schedule your Club orientation and interview.
Looking to volunteer as a group?

Corporate, civic and collegiate groups provide a valuable service to the Boys & Girls Club.

These groups often help to enhance the Club environment, providing resources for special programming initiatives, and sharing their skills and expertise in strategic planning, promotion and other areas. Opportunities are on an as-needed basis and might include:

  • One-day Club beautification - enhancement projects such as landscaping, minor repairs or cleaning.
  • Afternoon at the Club - directly engaging with youth in core programming areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Leadership Development
  • Special Event Support - at event such as the Back to School Health Fair or Club fundraisers.
